Description

“In 1938” the federal Public Works Administration (P.W.A.) “gave Fort Wayne a grant of $2,322,000 for the sewer project. Without this funding the municipal government would have been in desperate straits because it was under pressure from the State Board of Health to clean up the badly polluted Maumee River.”

The Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) also contributed to the city’s sewer system development.
