The site marked on the map is actually incorrect – the school marked as “Sanderson High School” (where the dot is placed) is actually the newer building which houses the K-12 students. The older school, the one likely funded by the P.W.A., is marked on the map as “Sanderson Schools” and can be located on the block next to the current school building. It is still in partial use by the school district although it does not host full courses anymore.
The Sanderson High School building built in 1939 is correctly located on the map across from the Terrell County Courthouse on Hackberry Street, between First and Second Streets. The new High School building (currently in use) faces Second Street and is an addition to the older Sanderson Junior High School building that faces Hackberry Street, across from the St. James Catholic Church.
