I love this painting, it represents a lot more than just art. I have seen it quite a few times during my time of being a teacher, may it remain inside Sawyer Elementary School.
I just saw a mural done by Lucille Ward during the Depression as a product of the WPA established by President Roosevelt in the 1930’s. The school was Sawyer School in Chicago, IL.
Mrs. Ward was in her 90’s when they contacted her to come and see her restored work.
She loved it! This was on a TV program.
We should have more of these programs. So many art works were produced during this time,
The 1938 to 1942.
Thanks you for this site.
