Description
The former Samuel Gompers High School building in the Bronx contains a 1936 fresco by Eric Mose entitled “Power.” It was presumably done under the auspices of the WPA’s Federal Arts Project. The mural was located in the library on the third floor, but was painted over in the 1980s.
The former Samuel Gompers High School now houses several smaller schools of the NY Public Schools

Does the 1938 “Power” by Eric Mose mural still exist in the formerly Samuel Gompers High School?
Sebastian, at this time we aren’t sure either. I would check with the city’s Department of Education, and if you find out any further information please do forward it our way.
Hi there, unfortunately, the mural was painted over with white paint in the 1980’s. It’s location was in the library on the third floor of the Gomper’s building. I visited the NYC Public Design Commission and found records and I work as a teacher in the building.
