My Dad was one of the men who worked at Salamonie State Park. Do you have any pictures of the group that was there. His name was Russell P. Femyer
A good resource to address these concerns would be the folks at the Salamonie Interpretive and Nature Center (https://www.in.gov/dnr/state-parks/programs/nature-centers/upper-wabash-interpretive-services/) by Lost Bridge West. They do have a photograph of Co. 589 at the center and would probably be a good place to start.
