Description

The WPA constructed this now-abandoned bridge just west of Trinidad Lake in 1936. From History Colorado:

The bridge spans Reilly Creek as part of an abandoned segment of Colo. Hwy. 12.  It includes three separate spans over the creek and a large single-span overpass for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad.  Constructed in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration, the bridge with its rock-faced masonry and beaded mortar joints is characteristic of WPA construction in southeastern Colorado.
