My father Samuel Namowitz was the model for Nat Werner’s sculpture. My parents told me that, the male figure is supposed to be young Abraham Lincoln, to whom my father had a resemblance. Amy believe that the sculpture was originally made for the New York State pavilion at the 1939 world’s fair.
