Post Office Mural – Waverly OH

Description

The historic post office in Waverly, Ohio houses an example of New Deal artwork: “Arrival of the Packet,” a Treasury of Fine Arts-commissioned mural by Roy Best. The work was completed and installed in the post office lobby in 1942.

    The artist, Roy Best, is my paternal grandfather. I’ve heard about this mural for years but have never had a chance to see it until now.

    Roy Best, Is my Great, Great Uncle. I have a photo of him as a private in the army.
    This is in the Pike County “ War Book”
