“Filling the Water Jugs Haymaking Time” is a post office mural completed by Gail W. Martin in 1939 under the auspices of the Treasury Section of Fine Arts. The mural is located in what was the local post office and is now the Hendricks County Probation Court Building. The size of the mural is 11’8′ x 3’10” and the medium is oil on canvas.

Gail Wycoff Martin was a (5-Year) Herron School of Art ( Indianapolis) Graduate, in 1938, who was a recipient of the Mary Milliken Scholarship, awarded to outstanding art students, to continue their art training in Europe. He was studying art in Germany and deeply concerned when Hitler was coming into power. He visibly saw the “March Militaire at the German Socialist Convention in Sept of 1937. He served time in WW2 and was an honored art professor at the University of Hartford.
