Gail Wycoff Martin was a (5-Year) Herron School of Art ( Indianapolis) Graduate, in 1938, who was a recipient of the Mary Milliken Scholarship, awarded to outstanding art students, to continue their art training in Europe. He was studying art in Germany and deeply concerned when Hitler was coming into power. He visibly saw the “March Militaire at the German Socialist Convention in Sept of 1937. He served time in WW2 and was an honored art professor at the University of Hartford.

(I am an artist who graduated from Herron School of Art. Currently I am writing an article for a local newspaper about this mural. Submitting this info from my own research) Herron Chronicle, Indiana University Press, 2003.)
