Post Office (former) – Peabody MA

City:
Peabody, MA

Site Type:
Federal Facilities, Post Offices

New Deal Agencies:
Treasury Department, Federal & Military Operations

Description

The historic former post office building in Peabody, Massachusetts was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds ca. 1938-9. The building, which is now privately owned, also houses an example of New Deal artwork, which can be seen in the lobby.

Unfortunately, the building’s cornerstone has been covered over, and possibly destroyed, by a poorly implemented ADA ramp.
