This neoclassical style building was competed in 1939 and housed the U.S. Court House and Post Office. Today, it is owned by the Hammond Baptist Church and is used as their main office.
The cornerstone reads: Frank Murphy Attorney General, James A. Farley Postmaster General, John M. Carmody Federal Works Administrator, W. Englebert Reynolds Commissioner of Public Buildings, Louis A. Simon Supervising Architect, Neal A. Melick Supervising Engineer, 1939
I found this building while searching the internet for historic pictures of Hammond, IN. This site had a picture: https://www.preserveindiana.com/pixpages/nw_ind/hamststr.html
