Description
In July 1937 the WPA embarked on two large sidewalk projects within the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County. One project involved the construction of a “four-foot wide concrete sidewalk [extending] along the north side of” Middle Country Road, “from the Brookhaven-Smithtown line eastward to the east line of the Coram school district, a total of 8.06 miles.”
The project, which cost a total of $95,425, was sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven ($30,540) and the WPA ($64,885).
