Harlingen, Texas’s historic Municipal Auditorium was constructed as a federal Public Works Administration (PWA) project during the Great Depression. The building, which has been extensively modified on multiple occasions, is still in use today.
The PWA supplied a $60,000 loan and $23,700 grant toward the $87,089 total cost of the project. Work occurred between July 1935 and December 1936.
