Description

A photograph in the National Archives indicates that the Works Progress Administration (WPA) built a boat dock on Lake Merritt, which appears to be at what is now the Lake Merritt Chalet, a bar and restaurant.  Evidently, the dock has been rebuilt over time.

This work would have been part of the extensive park and civic improvements done by the WPA around Oakland in the second half of the 1930s.
