Description
Indian Island is an island in the Penobscot River in Penobscot County that is the main reservation for the Penobscot Indian tribe.
The WPA was involved in bringing electricity to the island under the Rural Electrification Administration, paving some roads, installing a few street lights, and building a sewer system and water mains that were connected to the neighboring town of Old Town. 30 local men were employed in the work.
