Description
Bayonne High School was constructed with federal Public Works Administration (PWA) funds during the Great Depression. The massive undertaking cost $1.67 million; the PWA provided a $1.18 million loan and $494,000 grant to Bayonne. Construction occurred between March 1935 and June 1937. The building, which is connected to the adjacent (and older) Junior High School, is still in use today.
