“In 1938 and 1939 a Works Progress Administration project made several improvements” to Des Moines’s Glendale Cemetery, “which included improving curbing and the six miles of winding roads through the hilly property and making a two-acre lake which continues to attract ducks and geese.”
Project originally submitted by Evan Kalish on July 31, 2016.

My great-grandparents were both big Roosevelt supporters. My great-grandfather passed away from cancer in 1938 and was buried in this cemetery; my great-grandmother lived to 100 and was buried next to her husband in 1998. I had no idea there was a New Deal connection to this site.
I think the address and map location you have on this page is a different cemetery. Glendale cemetery is at 48th and University.
