  1. As of December 9, 2019, the clerk of the federal court in Athens said she’s worked there for 12 years and has fielded a “handful” of questions about the mural..but she has never seen the mural amd they have no idea what happened to it.

  2. This mural is located in the R. G. Stephens Jr. Federal Building located at
355 Hancock Avenue in Athens. It is not in the courthouse/post office just down the street.

I saw this mural at the R. G Stephens Federal Building at 355 Hancock Street in Athens GA this afternoon February 9, 2023. The two men who check in visitors said there was no artwork in the building and they knew nothing about the mural even after I showed them an image of “Springtime in Georgia” on my iPhone. My companion pointed to the hallway behind them and said, “There it is,” and it was there in the hallway with an explanatory plaque. No photos are. allowed in federal buildings, so I was unable to take a photo of the lovely mural, well worth a visit. The cleaning woman stopped to chat and she was knowledgeable about the mural, knowing it had been on exhibition elsewhere and knowing about when it had been moved to the Federal Building.
