The Evanston Post Office has for years been a living memorial to Depression era structures in the heart of the most dynamic city on the north shore of Chicago. The example of postal workers as gallant, hard working mail carriers that frame the walls of the main hall are so obviously part of that modem of the exaltation of the worker in a society where jobs had disappeared and many could not work. Knowing that history makes these structures feel exalting in and of themselves.
