Description
The WPA constructed this annex to the 1920s Craig County Courthouse in the early 1940s, but it didn’t remain connected to the courthouse for long. After WWII, the building housed a candy factory.
The rear of the building was destroyed due to an electrical fire in 2012, but the remainder of the building, now privately owned, is still in use.

The Craig County Courthouse Annex is most certainly NOT demolished! It still exists in its original location at the corner of Delaware and Scraper in Vinita. Only the back part of the building was destroyed in the 2012 fire. The law firm that owns the building restored the surviving main part of the structure and uses it for their offices. It looks great. In terms of the Annex’s historical uses, it was divided into temporary classrooms for awhile in the late ’40s and/or very early ’50s while Will Rogers Elementary School was being built nearby.
