Description
A WPA press release from Nov. 1937 reported: “More than 150 schools have been repaired and the grounds improved and landscaped [in Washington State], and five brand new schools in the state were erected entirely by WPA with a small percentage of sponsored funds,” among which was a new school in Belfair, Washington.
The precise location and the present status of the school building are unknown to Living New Deal.

Hi Art,
I write the column, Mary’s Memoirs, for the Shelton/Belfair papers, which is made up of Mary’s Theler’s daily diary, and usually soem research or coments from me. Mary keeps referencing the WPA paychecks coming in, as she was the Postmaster, and I am trying to find out what WPA projects were happening in and around Belfair, in 1938 and beyond. Do you have any more info? Would love to find out, especially with pictures to write about and run in the paper (with proper credit, of course). My email is [email protected] . Thank you! Seyta Selter
It might be worth checking out our bibliography of WA State for more info.
