  • Post Office - Hazlehurst MS
    Hazlehurst's Colonial Revival style post office is similar to many of the New Deal post offices constructed in Mississippi. The builder, Blair, Algernon Construction Company, was responsible for a large number of Mississippi post offices during that time. The building featured English bond brick pattern, wooden fluted Doric pilasters, a cast metal eagle over the door, terrazzo tile floor, marble wainscoting, and wooden vestibule (Enzweiler, 1992).
  • Post Office - Hebron NE
    The Moderne building was constructed in 1937. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is also the site of the 1939 mural, "Stampeding Buffaloes Stopping the Train."
  • Post Office - Helper UT
    This New Deal post office was built in 1937. It remains in 'mint condition' to this day, with the interior looking exactly as it did in the 1930s (2017).  The building on is on the National Register of Historic Places (as part of the Helper Historic District) and marked with a cornerstone and a plaque. The plaque mistakenly attributes the building to the WPA, but all post offices were built by the Treasury Department at the time (as the cornerstone clearly states). It contains Jenn Magafan's 1941 mural, "Western Town," painted for the Treasury Section of Fine Arts.
  • Post Office - Hereford TX
    This historic post office in Hereford, Texas was constructed with Treasury Department funds in 1939-40. The building, which houses an example of New Deal artwork, has since been extended. It is still in service.
  • Post Office - Herington KS
    "The Herington Post Office was constructed by the PWA for $55,000. It was dedicated on December 12, 1935 and occupied on January 1, 1936. It contains one of six New Deal post office murals by Louis Freund. Supervising architect was Louis A. Simon. Supervising engineer was Neal A. Melick."

    The historic post office in Herkimer, New York "was designed and built in 1933-1934 by consulting architect Ross Edgar Sluyter for the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department. It is a one story, seven bay building faced with red brick laid in Flemish bond above a granite clad foundation in the Colonial Revival style. The five central bays are formed as a central pavilion and faced in terra cotta marked by Corinthian order pilasters." Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, the building is still in use today.

In December 1935 equipment was moved into the building and the dedication was held December 13, 1935. It was needed because of damage to the previous post office in the Long Beach earthquake of 1933 and cost $210,000 (Gnerre 2022) The design of this two-story building is Classical Moderne, with clean, square lines, flat roof tall window openings and a stucco finish. There are lovely bas-relief sculptures over the recessed front entrance and in the front window openings between stories.  There is a carved wooden mural inside.
