The Works Progress Administration provided labor for the construction of Curtis Field between 1940 and 1941 under project number 165-1-66-325. The City of Brady and McCulloch County provided equipment for leveling and grading. In 1942, the facility was taken over by the United States Army Air Forces and was used during World War II as a pilot training airfield. The City of Brady currently owns the airport and operates it as a general aviation facility.

A new swimming pool and municipal park were built in 1934 using Civil Works Administration funds. The school playground was furnished, athletic field improved with grading and concrete seats, teacher's home renovated, and repairs made to the high school. Dedication ceremonies were held May 4, 1934.

The Works Progress Administration built the City Hall and the Auditorium building in Gatesville, between 1935 and 1937.

A few New Deal projects helped relieve the effects of the Depression in this very small coastal town. Paradise Elementary School was constructed with the help of the Works Progress Administration (WPA), which was very active in Butte County, CA. (Smith 2012) Unfortunately, the school burned in the catastrophic Camp Fire of November 2018, which destroyed most of the town of Paradise. (Chico Record)

Two stone arch bridges were built by the Works Progress Administration in Phillipsburg City Park. One is a pedestrian bridge and the other bridge is used for automotive traffic. Built in 1936, these historic stone stone bridges are located on U.S. Hwy 36.

A 2012  Nation Register of Historic Places Registration Form describes the restroom structures built by the Works Progress Administration circa 1935: "Behind the school, near the southwest and northwest corners of the property are two stone privies. Thought to have been constructed in the 1930s, possibly with funding from the Works Progress Administration, the two small buildings are identical in design. The small rectangular buildings are of rubble stone construction with a plain wood door centered in one long wall. The roof is side gable with wood shingles and exposed rafter tails." The former Mark Twain Memorial Bridge, spanning the Mississippi River between Hannibal, Missouri and Illinois, was constructed as a Public Works Administration (P.W.A.) project. The P.W.A. supplied a $357,000 loan and $169,507 grant for the project, whose total cost was $721,505. Construction occurred between Oct. 1934 and Jul. 1936.
