  • Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge - San Antonio NM
    In 1936 the Bureau of Biological Survey (BBS) determined that Bosque del Apache site was suitable for a migratory bird refuge. Condemnation of the land was initiated through the 1931 Migratory Bird Conservation Act and concluded in December 1936. The landowner  was paid around $12/acre for about 57,000 acres. The refuge was formally established by executive order of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939.   • Bear Creek Canyon Scenic Mountain Drive - Morrison CO
    Bear Creek Canyon Scenic Mountain Drive is a 2-mile stretch of Colorado Highway 74 between the towns of Morrison and Idledale, just west of Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. The route is noted for its enclosing granite cliffs and diverse vegetation. During the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) raised the bed of the road, which had originally been built by the Denver Motor Club. The project involved the construction of six 20-foot retaining walls along the edge of Bear Creek.
  • Humboldt General Hospital Expansions (replaced) - Winnemucca NV
    Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca has been around in various forms since the 19th century. The first hospital on the present site was established in 1908.  It was expanded with new structures in 1936, 1942, 1962, 1973 and completely rebuilt in 2015-16. The 1941-42 expansion was undertaken with a $14,121 grant by the Work Projects Administration (WPA), while the 1936 addition was undertaken with a $24,545 grant by the Public Works Administration (PWA).   • William Cullen Bryant High School Sculpture - Queens NY
    The school grounds contain a small New Deal sculpture by Hugo Robus entitled "Girl Weeding." It was made in 1938, probably under the auspices of the Federal Arts Project of the WPA.
  • Jennings High School - Jennings MO
    Jennings High School is a single story school constructed in 1941, possibly by the WPA. It is still in use, but has been significantly added onto since its construction.
  • Swimming Pool and Bathhouse - Wallace ID
    The pool and bathhouse were built in 1939 under the auspices of the federal Public Works Administration. Full restoration was carried out by the community from 1999 to 2007 at a cost of $265,000.

  • Post Office (former) - Alvin TX
    From Flickr user Courthouselover in 2012: "Built in 1940, this former post office today acts as the Alvin Historical Museum. The old mural that once hung in this post office's lobby today is rolled up in storage awaiting restoration." Since then, the mural has been restored, thanks to the efforts of former Texas Rangers pitcher Nolan Ryan and his wife Ruth. It now hangs in the museum.
