  • Protestant Cay Residence Reconstruction - St. Croix VI
    “Protestant Cay residence, St. Croix. The reconstruction of this attractively located and interesting structure was completed except for certain minor details and except for the reconstruction of adjacent outbuildings. This residence will be made available as quarters for an officer of the government of the Virgin Islands.” The work was executed by the WPA and cost $ 6,000.
  • Sidewalks on Courthouse Plaza (former) - Prescott AZ
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) constructed sidewalks all over Prescott AZ, including around Courthouse Plaza.  According to the WPA stamp in the photograph, the sidewalk was part of Project No. 65-2-105 in 1936.   Unfortunately, the entire plaza has been renovated and the stamp shown here has disappeared -- despite the photographer's happiness on seeing "that such things are preserved."
  • Solberg Roadwork - St. Thomas VI
    The CCC built a road in Solberg, a settlement on St. Thomas.
  • Long Bay Drainage Outlets - Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas VI
    The CCC built temporary drainage outlets at Long Bay, Charlotte Amalie, on St. Thomas.
  • CCC Camp at Estate Mandahl - St. Thomas VI
    The CCC built new camp facilities at Estate Mandahl on St. Thomas.
  • Government House Repairs - Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas VI
    "Outstanding achievements were the completion of the rehabilitation of the Government House and Administration Building in Charlotte Amalie and the Government House in Christiansted, providing modern, comfortable living and office accommodations. (...) This work has been done under the supervision of the Public Buildings Administration, Federal Works Agency."
  • Health Clinic - St. John VI
    The National Youth Administration built the only health clinic on St. John island, to serve its 800 inhabitants.
  • Dorothea Agriculture Experiment Station - St. Thomas VI
    The Agricultural Experiment Station was built with the help of PWA funds, near Dorothea. The total expenditure for the removal of the "agricultural station from Lindbergh Bay, St. Thomas, to new site at Estate Dorothea, St Thomas, including the purchase of land at Estate Dorothea and the construction of buildings for the agricultural station thereon" was $28,709.
  • Mandahl Road - St. Thomas VI
