Automotive High School in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, facing McCarren Park, was built during the 1930s with funds from the federal Public Works Administration (PWA).  The school was created to train students to be skilled auto repair technicians, to which have been added offerings in Software Engineering and Art and Media. The building has a striking inscription over the main entrance: "Manhood Service Labor Citizenship". Not surprisingly, it has few female students.  The exterior and interior appear to be little changed over the years.    

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) completed reforestation and improvement work at the John Henry Kirby Memorial State Forest. The work included tree planting and timber stand improvement—a forest management method that supports tree growth. The CCC also built a residence, park roads and bridges, fire breaks, and a fire lookout tower. The John Henry Kirby Memorial State Forest was founded in 1929, when lumber baron John Henry Kirby donated 639 acres of land to the Texas Forest Service. The Works Progress Administration built sanitary sewers in Barnesville, Marion County.

The Works Progress Administration completed improvements for the Lewis County Infirmary. According the the Charleston Gazette (1936), "The work consisted of “Repairing, renovating and Improving Lewis county infirmary.” The exact location and condition of this facility are unknown to the Living New Deal.

The Works Progress Administration completed grading and drainage work for German Settlement Road in Elk District in Charleston, Kanawha County. The exact location and condition of this road are unknown to the Living New Deal.

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) conducted substantial work at Shenipsit State Forest in northern Connecticut. Work was undertaken by Camp Conner, housing Company #1192, which operated from Sept. 5, 1935 to May 23, 1941. The physical camp resided south of Chestnut Hill Rd., at Thomas Rd. The prime remnant of the camp is the former camp officer / officers' office building, now the CCC Museum (which has its own page on our site). A plaque on the school indicates that the Works Progress Administration (WPA) constructed the original limestone school building in Harper, Texas between 1938 and 1940. The state historical marker says the WPA also added on to the school with work continuing to 1942. The building is still in use as a school.

In the early 1930s, the Civilian Conservation  Corps (CCC) made improvements to an experimental fire station established by the U.S. Forest Service in the Shasta National Forest, at Pilgrim Creek just east of McCloud Ranger Station. Pilgrim Creek had long been the site of a tree nursery for reforestation projects, but in 1930 an experimental fire station was added to the site. The Works Progress Administration completed improvements for several streets in Grantsville, Calhoun County. The work consisted of building retaining walls, curbs, and sidewalks.  

In 1937, the Texas Highway Department and the United States Bureau of Public Roads built two underpasses on South St. Mary's Street in San Antonio, Texas to separate the grade of South St. Mary's Street from the railway lines of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad and the Texas and New Orleans Railroad. The Texas and New Orleans Railroad merged with Southern Pacific Railroad which was taken over by Union Pacific Railroad, which still uses the bridge. The Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad bridge is no longer in use and the railroad tracks have been removed.
