"Macon Downtown Airport has its origins beginning in World War I as "Camp Wheeler". As early as 1925, Huff Daland Dusters, the precursor of Delta Air Lines, based its crop dusting operation at Camp Wheeler. In 1936 the City of Macon purchased 250 acres of airfield for $107,000 to replace its inadequate "Miller Field" to support Eastern Air Transport's passenger and mail service to Macon. Then the Works Project Administration began a $500,000 project that included a hangar, a 24 x 56-ft, administration building, and a concrete apron. The Works Progress Administration built sidewalks in Woodland in 1938. The sidewalks are located in the neighborhood west of the Douglass Middle School. Several “WPA 1938” can be found on site.

The Treasury Department funded the construction of the former Post office in Corbin, KY. The structure was built on East Center Street (now Roy Kidd Avenue). Today, the former Post Office serves as the Corbin Independent School District Building. The building is located at the northwest corner of Roy Kidd Avenue (formerly East Center Street) and North Depot Street. The building is a flat lot overlooking a sloping road that runs from Main (US 25) eastward to go under the railroad.

Set back from Main Street (US 25) this building is a former school with a historical marker in front indicating it was the site of the 1826 Laurel Seminary which opened in 1858. Became a Common School 1870-1884, private to 1893, common public school before the original building was replaced with the existing building. (Historic name undetermined)

Clear Springs Recreation Area lake was constructed between 1935 and 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The lake retains its original design even though restoration work has been done on wooden shoring and spillway. The picnic pavilion was constructed in rustic style, and is a one-story, T-plan structure of logs. The structure includes a brick fireplace and wooden slab benches. The gazebo is a hexagon shape. The lake is a landscape element after the land was acquired in 1933 for the Homochitto National Forest. State forester was Fred B. Merrill and Supervisor was R. M. Conarro.

The Civil Works Administration (CWA) built sewers on Johansen, Oakley, and Sherwood Streets in Portland, ME, in 1934. A photo courtesy of the Maine Memory Network depicts the sewer construction by CWA crews in 1934.

Located on the outskirts of the Sequoia National Park, Camp Salt Creek was constructed on October 12, 1937 by Company 5449, SNP-10. The type of work done at Camp Salt Creek was fire prevention, construction of horse and truck trails, highway maintenance, & building and maintaining communication systems. Company 5449 of note captured 117 rattlesnakes that were sent to the Biological Survey in Washington DC. The Company was originally formed in May 1936 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. The Portland Department of Public Works rebuilt the sewer on Leland Street in Portland as part of a C.W.A Project No. 10-GG.

This camp was located on the boundary line of the south side of Sequoia National Park in the Sierra Mountain Range. Originally a side camp constructed by Company 4759 based at Camp Red Fir. Permanent occupation by the 1493rd Company, Camp Buckeye SNP-9 was October 13, 1937. The Company was organized at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana, April 1933 where they were involved in reforestation of 200,000 acres. The Works Progress Administration built the Shops and Recreation Building for the Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Today the building serves as the Weatherford Public School Maintenance Building. Contributor note: "Located south of the State University, this building was once part of that campus. This building was originally pat of the university and was known as Southwest State Shops and Recreation Building. It is located on N.
