Neil Maher is a Professor of History in the Federated History Department at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University at Newark. Maher’s writing has appeared in academic journals including Modern American History, Social History, and Environmental History, as well as in more popular news outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Yes magazine. He is currently working on an environmental justice history of Newark, New Jersey.
