My Great Aunt Dorothea Mierisch was a new deal Artist. She painted 2 murals that were displayed in Illinois The Wright brothers first Air Mail Flight and in South Carolina Cotton through the ages. She also had several paintings I believe in the Smithsonian Institute. Will the works of art be displayed in New York? I would like to see them if possible in the future. Thank you. Any information is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Donna Mierisch Alfonso

Unfortunately, we won’t be displaying any of the artwork. But our site does feature one of your grandmother’s works of art. Our site features your grandmother’s cotton mural, but we’d love to know more about the Wright Brothers mural.

  3. We would love to share a short film about Leon Bibel, an artist who participated in the Federal Art Project in New York City. The film is primarily about Leon and his work, but also about protests and activism, with archival footage of protests against threats to shut down the WPA.
