  • Sherrod Library Mural - Johnson City TN
    Wendell Jones painted this Section of Fine Arts oil on canvas mural, "Farmer Family" for the Johnson City post office in 1940. "Farmer Family" was moved from the old post office when a new one was built and now hangs in the Sherrod Library on the East Tennessee State University campus. The figure below the cow's tail is a self-portrait of the artist. The Red Setter was Jones's dog and the Irish Setter belonged to friend George Ludin, another prominent artists.  
  • Shiloh Museum of Ozark History Mural - Springdale AR
    This mural "Local Industries" by Natalie Henry was completed with support from the Treasury Section of Fine Arts in 1940. It was originally in the Springville Post Office, but it is now on display at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.   • Post Office Mural - Wellington TX
    "Settlers in Collingsworth County" (1940) by Bernard Arnest The artist wrote that he wanted to "show settlers on the Texas Plains engaged in fundamental activities of opening and using new land: building shelter, sowing, planting."  
  • Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum: Mead Murals - Canyon TX
    Ben Carlton Mead completed two New Deal murals for the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum. One, "Coronado's Coming" was painted in 1934 with funding from the PWAP. Another, "Antelope Creek Focus" was painted in 1940 with funding from the WPA Federal Art Project.  
  • Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum: Bugbee Murals - Canyon TX
    Harodl Bugbee completed two murals for the museum. "The Cattlemen" was completed with funds from the PWAP in 1934. "Ranch Headquarters" was completed in 1940 with support from the WPA Federal Art Project.
  • City Hall (old Post Office) Mural - Belmont NC
    The historic Belmont City Hall, constructed as the city's post office, houses an example of New Deal artwork. The mural "Mayor Chronicle's South Fork Boys" was completed by Peter DeAnna in 1940; the work was commissioned by the Treasury Section of Fine Arts.
  • Post Office Mural - Boone NC
    The mural "Daniel Boone on a Hunting Trip to Watauga County" was commissioned by the federal Treasury Section of Fine Arts. Painted by Alan Tompkins, it was installed in Boone, North Carolina's historic downtown post office building in 1940.

    The post office in Decherd was built in 1940 with New Deal funds.
  • Post Office - Mt. Pleasant TN
    The post office's "blend of modernist elements with an overall symmetrical shape reminiscent of the state's other Colonial Revival post offices" (Van West, 2001, p. 69) is "considered one of the best examples of this design still extant in Tennessee (Davis et al., 2003, p. 2). It was one of some 200 post offices constructed by the Federal Works Agency in smaller communities across the nation during 1940.
  • Post Office - Marietta OK
    The historic post office building in Marietta, Oklahoma was constructed with federal Treasury Department funds. The building, which was completed in 1940, houses New Deal artwork inside and is still in use today.
