  • Rolfe Park Pool - Concord NH
    In 1940, the WPA helped construct a new wading pool at Rolfe Park. A municipal report from that year reported that: "This pool, which has a depth ranging from three and one-half to four feet, meets a long felt need in the Ward One section of the city."
  • Ruston High School - Ruston LA
    Described as "an Art Deco gem" (Leighninger, 2007, p. 78), in which "simple geometric forms predominated" (p. 80), Ruston High School was constructed by the PWA in 1939-1940. The original building included an auditorium wing and the central core of classrooms. A second wing was added to match the auditorium wing in the late 1960s. "One of the best examples of this style in the state", the architectural features were duplicated in the changes (Dailey & Pfister, 2000). The building is still in use as the high school, and is well-maintained.
  • Riverside Park: 79th Street Boat Basin - New York NY
    Located along the Henry Hudson Parkway, the 79th Street Boat Basin is a marina, restaurant and still popular Manhattan destination.   • Clinton Federal Building: Kirishjian Murals - Washington DC
    The Clinton Federal Building (north) was originally the US Post Office Department headquarters, completed under the New Deal in 1934.  It contains a wealth of New Deal artworks commissioned and paid for by the Treasury Section of Fine Arts – 25 murals and 22 sculptural elements (12 bas-reliefs, 2 statues, 8 wood medallions) – featuring postal themes. In 1940, Vahe Kirishjian painted 8 ceiling panels for the Law Library in the Post Office Department, four large (13 x 21') and four smaller, called "The Four Seasons and Signs of the Zodiac."   • Spring Mill State Park: Gatehouse - Mitchell IN
    Using a variety of native materials, the CCC built gatehouses designed to appeal to the eye and draw in visitors with hints of the delights of nature within the park. The gatehouse at Spring Mill State Park was completed by CCC laborers in 1940. The style of the gatehouse is classified as Parks Rustic.
  • Pokagon State Park: Overnight Cabins - Angola IN
    The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built overnight cabins at Pokagon State Park in 1940, which are still in use. The four cabins are classified as Parks Rustic. The cabins are not marked as CCC, but there is now a CCC Pocket Museum in the old gatehouse and the Nature Center has an exhibit that lists all the structures CCC enrollees worked on.
