    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) provided $195,000 in funding to pay relief workers to develop La Palma Park in Anaheim, CA. Workers planted palm trees, built a playground, and built the baseball field, which is now known as Dee Fee Stadium, all remain intact. But the pond pictured in the historic photo has been filled in and replaced with a parking lot.
  • Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center - Sacramento CA

  • Roscoe School - Sun Valley CA
    Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works funded the construction of the Roscoe School in Sun Valley CA. Plaque Inscription: Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works, Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States, Harold L. Ickes, Administrator of Public Works, 1939. Roscoe School was founded in 1917 to serve the small number of residents in the community of Roscoe. It began as a small one-room schoolhouse on the corner of San Fernando Road and Strathern Street. The structure was rebuilt on its original site and is still known as "The Little Red Schoolhouse."   • Downey Grade School (former) - Downey ID
    The Public Works Administration (PWA) financed the construction of the Downey Grade School in 1939. The school building is a long, single-story, brick Moderne (Art Deco) structure. The former school is now a private assisted living facility called "Whispering Pines".  
  • Washington Elementary School - Independence KS
    Washington School was built with the funding of the federal Public Works Administration (PWA). The Art Moderne concrete school built to replace the Longfellow and Frances Willard schools. It was in use until 2011. Notable features include murals depicting Longfellow and Willard and a basement bicycle garage.
  • Clifton High School (demolished) - Clifton ID
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) built the Clifton High School in Clifton, Franklin County. The project was awarded to Isakson and Morrin of Ogden, Utah with a winning bid of $43,300 in December of 1938. It was completed in 1939. The school was used as a high school for about 10 years, then as a junior high school and elementary school until the late 1980’s, when it was demolished.
  • Princeton Road - Hopkinsville KY
    The Works Progress Administration (WPA) constructed Princeton Road, a.k.a. Kentucky State Route 91, in Christian County, Kentucky in 1936-9.
  • Filtration Plant - Pawnee City NE
    A water filtration plant in Pawnee City, Nebraska was constructed with the assistance of federal Public Works Administration (PWA) funds. The PWA provided a $13,019 grant for the project, whose total cost was $28,903. Construction occurred between Dec. 1938 and Jul. 1939.   • Community Center (former) - Cook NE
    A community center in Palmyra, Nebraska was constructed with the assistance of federal Public Works Administration (PWA) funds. The PWA provided a $9,900 grant for the project, whose total cost was $21,763. Construction occurred between Dec. 1938 and Mar. 1939. Living New Deal believes, though is not certain, that the structure in question is that at 106 N 2nd St. (PWA Docket No. Neb. 1354)
  • Company B 140th Infantry Armory - Caruthersville MO
    From Missouri Armories: "This armory was built as a WPA project and incorporates many aspects of the WPA modern style inside and out, but the stylistic features are somewhat extreme and could not be considered typical of the are deco style. This is illustrated in the two pillars flanking the main entrance and the lack of geometric interpretation." Occupied 1939-ca. 2000.
