    State Highway 79 Bridge at the Red River which connects Jefferson County, OK with Clay County, TX. "State highway #79 bridge at the Red River is a camelback pony truss bridge built in 1939... This type of bridge is rare and this particular example maintains a high degree of integrity.     "This is another of the WPA-constructed schoolhouses in rural Oklahoma which live on in these small communities. The town of Bailey is gone! It is a ghost town, lying 12 miles northeast of Marlow. Its post office served from June 25, 1892, until September 30, 1932. This schoolhouse was constructed in 1939. It faces east along 2915. A sign shows it is/was the home of Bailey Community Church, but we could not determine whether the church still meets here today.   • Park School - Mill Valley CA
    Mill Valley's Park School was originally constructed in 1906. The PWA significantly expanded the school in 1939: “A school bond issue ($55,000) was passed in 1938, which permitted the securing of $45,000 already pledged by the Public Works Administration (PWA). The school board hired Walter C. Falch, who designed Mill Valley City Hall as the architect for the project. Peter Sartorio proposed the winning bid of $86,759 for the construction contract.     This elementary school was constructed with Public Works Administration (PWA) funds in 1939. The school is still in use, although recent renovations have altered the school's original appearance. The dedication plaque at the entrance is still visible.

    An August 25, 1939 article in the Bartlett Tribune and News reported on the latest round of PWA funding: "The first project to get under construction in was at Monument, Colorado, on August 3, 1939. The project, calling for $1,300 worth of school improvements, was one of the nation's smallest and also the first of PWA projects to be completed in the United States."
