The former Lafayette Junior High School, which opened in the 1920s, was rebuilt with funding from the Public Works Administration (PWA) in 1936. Reconstruction was carried out by architect Arlos B. In 1936, artist Geza Kende completed an oil on canvas painting titled "Melon Field" for Robert E. Peary Middle School (formerly Gardena High School) in Gardena, CA. Located in Stephan Hall, the painting depicts a farmhouse behind rows of growing melons, with mountains in the distance. A water disposal plant was constructed in Danbury, Connecticut as a result of multiple federal Public Works Administration (P.W.A.)-sponsored projects. First, the P.W.A. supplied a $53,000 grant for a project whose total cost was $217,250. Construction occurred between Dec. 1934 and Oct. 1935. (P.W.A. Docket No. CT 2690.) The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Fireplace is a unique New Deal project located in Como Park in St. Paul. Saint Paul Almanac: "Labor for the fireplace was provided by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), a federal relief program that provided jobs for unemployed workers during the Great Depression. An old newspaper article said that the stone used to build the fireplace came from the Saint Paul City Hall, which had been demolished three years earlier in 1933."

According to an article in the Youngstown Vindicator, the Works Progress Administration expanded the grandstand at the Canfield Fairgrounds in 1936. A historical marker on the fairgrounds credits the "Works Progress Alliance" (presumably a typographical error) with the construction of the grandstand, as well as offices and roads on the site, and "WPA 1936" is etched above the main entrance to the grandstand. The fairgrounds and grandstand are still in use.
