Completion Year: 1934

In the winter of 1933-34, the Civil Works Administration (CWA) provided relief labor for repairs to the jetty at the mouth of the Russian River at Jenner, California.  The CWA work was a minor contribution to a jetty construction project that had begun in 1929 and would continue off and on until 1948.  Funds were sought from the Public Works Administration (PWA) in 1938, but the State of California stepped in with money, instead. In brief, a jetty was built between 1929 and 1931, but was almost immediately damaged by waves and storms, so repairs continued to be made through 1935....

In 1934, the C.W.A. completed 2,000 feet of repair work on the East Blue Hill Road employing 26 men. The E.R.A. did construction work on the North Blue Hill Road employing 44 men. Total on both projects paid by C.W.A. and ERA $6,060.61 Total on both projects paid by town $263.48

In 1934 the E.R.A. helped in a school repair project No. - 05 - 43 - BL - 01 "This year the Grammar Building had its three class rooms painted two coats. One of its chimneys was built higher so that the stove that keeps the toilets warm would have a better draft. This oil-on-canvas mural "Scenes of Industry" by Edward Britton was painted in 1934. It was removed from the old building in 1955, put in storage, and reinstalled in 1955.
