Lander Sites

The Civil Works Administration (CWA) and Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) constructed Lander's believed former Community Center on Buena Vista Drive in 1934-5. The structure was destroyed by fire in 2012 and has since been replaced.

The Works Progress Administration (WPA) worked to develop a fish hatchery near Lander, Wyoming. Casper Star-Tribune, 1939: "rojects at Sheridan, Lander, Newcastle and Buffalo had the aid of the WPA and sportsmen's clubs." The location and status of this project is unknown to Living New Deal.

A former junior high school building in Lander, Wyoming was constructed as a federal Public Works Administration (P.W.A.) project during the Great Depression. The PWA supplied a $52,291 grant for the project, whose total cost was $119,527. Construction occurred between June 1936 and Feb. 1938. Later known as the former Southside Elementary School, the exact location of the facility is unknown to Living New Deal. The building has since been destroyed. PWA Docket No. WY 1019-R

The federal Public Works Administration helped to finance the construction of three buildings at the Wyoming State Training School in Lander, Wyoming during the 1930s. A new addition was constructed for the girls' dormitory; a new boys' dormitory was built; and a new kitchen building was constructed as well. Prior to that, the Civil Works Administration (CWA) "substantially modernized" the facility, "from driveway to electrical system and plumbing, and the plumbing was particularly in dire need of upgrading."
