  • Buffalo Hill Golf Club, Cameron Course - Kalispell MT
    The WPA constructed the 9-hole Cameron Course at what is now Buffalo Hill Golf Club. From the Buffalo Hill Golf Club website: "In the early 1930’s, land was purchased where part of the Cameron 9 holes now resides. The Cameron Course is named after Dave Cameron, who donated land to the city for golf course development. The original 9 hole course operated until the late 1930’s when the Works Progress Administration (WPA) built a nine hole, irrigated, green grass course; some holes are still in service today while others have been modified during subsequent expansions.”
  • Golf Course Clubhouse - Kalispell MT
    Montana's Big Timber Pioneer newspaper reported: "Work started recently on a clubhouse at the Kalispell golf course, according to Mayor J. P. Bruckhauser. The building. 70 feet by 38 feet, will be built by WPA labor at a cost of approximately $10.000." Exact location and current status unknown to the Living New Deal.
  • Kalispell City Airport Improvements - Kalispell MT
    A $42,427 WPA grant was used to improve Kalispell airport. According to Montana's Big Timber Pioneer newspaper, the work involved "cement floors for the hangar, construction of a large warmup block, construction of three runways 400 by 2,600 feet, painting the hangar, seeding 60 acres to turf and incidental improvements." The airport is still in use today.
  • Water System Improvements - Kalispell MT
    Big Timber Pioneer reported in late 1935 that: "The first works progress project in Flathead county is to consist of renewing 6,600 feet of water mains, which will complete the city water system, according to Mayor Bruckhauser of Kalispell. The WPA will furnish the labor and the city the materials."
  • Woodland Park Improvements - Kalispell MT
    Montana's Big Timber Pioneer newspaper reported in April 1937: "Woodland park, a $600,000 WPA project, will be completed in June, Mayor J. P. Bruckhauser was recently advised. The project consists of improvement work on an established park." On July 15, 1937, the same paper reported on the completed work: "Among the 11 large projects comprising the WPA civic-center program in Montana upon which $676,641.12 has been expended, is the civic-center park at Kalispell. Known as Woodland Park, this beautifully developed 30 acre area now contains a concrete swimming pool, rustic club house, lagoons, roads, bridges, winter sports area, landscaped picic and park grounds...
