• CCC Camp Smokey, Roaring River State Park - Cassville MO
    CCC Company 1713 established Camp Smokey in Roaring River State Park in the 1930s and used it as a base from which to make extensive improvements throughout the area. The large CCC camp itself  is still remarkably well-preserved. The camp is within the state park, but it is well-defined as its own area, Camp Smokey.  The buildings are still used at this time.
  • Post Office - Cassville MO
    The Cassville post office was constructed in 1938 with funds provided by the Treasury Department. It is also the site of Edward Winter's 1941 mural, "Flora and Fauna of the Region," painted for the Treasury Section of Fine Arts.

    The post office contains a 1941 mural created out of enameled porcelain panels. Entitled "Flora and Fauna of the Region," the mural was created by Edward Winter under the auspices of the Treasury Section of Fine Arts.
  • Roaring River State Park - Cassville MO
    Roaring River State Park is a large park in the state of Missouri. It was established in 1928. CCC Company 1713 of the CCC (see linked entry for Camp Smokey) did extensive development of the park. CCC work included extensive construction, including a large lodge, cabins for visitors, extensive rock walls, a fish hatchery and enclosure of a large spring, and rock in the river to enhance fishing.  The work is in good shape and is actively being used with the exception of the large lodge.
